Venturing into the scary world of skinny jeans

I bought some skinny black jeans last week. When super skinny jeans came back in style two years ago, I was not on board. I thought they were ugly and unflattering on almost everyone. I have terrible memories of acid-washed denim with ankle zippers from my middle school years, so anything that even approximates that look frightens me.

But I’ve been warming up to skinny jeans. In fact, I’m so warm that I finally decided I would get some for this fall (I know, I know, I’m very late to this trend). I decided to go for something in a black or gray denim to start.  I was inspired by this July YLF post on black denim.

So I tried on a bunch of skinny jeans and actually really liked the Stella skinny style from Express. I haven’t bought a pair of Express jeans since I was in college, but these fit really well and were a good price for this experiment ($60). I’d hate to spend $200 if I’m not going to like them!

This particular pair is black black and pretty darn skinny around my ankles. They’re just long enough to bunch a little bit above my shoes, so I won’t need to have them hemmed.  And they’ve got just enough punk rocker in them to be exactly what I’m looking for. I’m pretty excited about trying them out today.  If I think the look works for me, I’ll post a picture on ZiteFight and we’ll see what everyone else thinks.

So I’m curious. Who likes skinny jeans? Who doesn’t?

PS - I’ll post a pic of them as soon as the Express website stops sucking.
